Frankie Faison is an American actor known for his roles in various movies and TV shows. He was born on June 10, 1949 in Newport News, Virginia. Faison gained recognition for his portrayal of Deputy Commissioner, and later Commissioner, Ervin Burrell in the HBO series The Wire. He is also known for his roles as Barney Matthews in the Hannibal Lecter franchise and Sugar Bates in the Cinemax series Banshee. Faison studied drama at Illinois Wesleyan University and later obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. He began his acting career in 1974 and has appeared in numerous productions on stage and screen.
