Freddie Jones (12 September 1927 – 9 July 2019) was an English actor with a career spanning nearly sixty years in television, theatre, and cinema. He originated the role of Sir in The Dresser and gained recognition for his portrayal of showman Bytes in The Elephant Man (1980). From 2005 to 2018, Jones played Sandy Thomas in the popular ITV soap opera Emmerdale. Born in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent, Jones worked at Creda before joining the British Ceramic Research Association. Encouraged by his girlfriend, he pursued a drama course and began his career in repertory theatre. Throughout his career, Jones showcased his talent in various notable productions across different mediums.
