Hank Worden Biography
Hank Worden (born Norton Earl Worden; July 23, 1901 – December 6, 1992) was an American cowboy-turned-character actor known for his appearances in numerous Westerns, including many John Ford films such as The Searchers. He also made appearances in the popular TV series The Lone Ranger. Worden was born in Rolfe, Iowa and grew up on a cattle ranch near Glendive, Montana. He pursued an education in engineering at Stanford University and the University of Nevada before enlisting in the U.S. Army. Although he failed to pass flight school to become an Army pilot, he showcased his skills as an expert horseman by touring the country in rodeos as a saddle bronc rider. Worden's acting career began when he and fellow cowboy Tex Ritter were chosen to appear in the Broadway play Green Grow the Lilacs in 1931. Afterward, Worden drove a cab in New York City before transitioning to a successful career in film and television.
